Help to Build a Better Future for Veterinary Students


Prof Indira de Silva and Prof Ashoka Dangolla, two academic staff members of department of clinical studies, FVMAS University of Peradeniya have been blamed for serious disciplinary violations at work over past several decades in social media. Recent incidence associated with students indicate that their actions are outrageous and cause significant threat to the current and future veterinary undergraduates.
Main purpose of this petition is to force authorities to take immediate long term measures to prevent violence and abuse of veterinary undergraduates and help improve veterinary clinical training environment for future students and internees. A thorough impartial investigation into all matters raised here are requested.
All qualified veterinarians who have been graduated from university of Peradeniya are requested to sign this petition if you victimized or witnessed bellow mention crimes by academic staff members during your undergraduate period. You may indicate your current position in the industry and leave a brief comment regarding specific incidence or experience if you wish.
1. Bullying during the small animal clinical training programme- unreasonably humiliated or threatened or manipulated against the will by these staff members
2. Unreasonably and inappropriately suspending students from participating lectures or practical clinical training by these staff members
3. Willingly neglecting teaching responsibilities substantially such as abandoning lectures or clinical rounds or discussions by these staff members
4. Examination or evaluation crimes such as taking personal revenge by suspending students from oral examinations or suspected biased marking


This petition is independent, impartial and not motivated by any political parties in any manner.
After a reasonable period, it will be presented to The Hon President Mithreepala Sirisena, Minister of Higher Education, Chairman of University Grants Commission, Vice Chancellor of University of Peradeniya, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Health, University of Peradeniya and all relevant professional bodies in the country for their attention and urgent action.
